These two little squirrels were saved by me last week, when the labourers removed the squirrel’s nests while doing renovation works in the quarters (1st floor) above to my house. At that time these squirrels were running very slowly here and there in front of my house. I told my wife to save it from the crows and dogs. They were shivering their legs and in the state of afraid as that might have been the first time they are coming out of their nest. Our kids were overjoyed seeing these little ones, by touching them, making sounds like them etc. We put them in the plastic wired basket. We changed the small empty eye drops bottle into small feeding bottle suitable for them and feeding the milk through it. For the first two days they showed little reluctant to come out and take the milk. Slowly they moved friendly with us.
Now it’s a week over, they started running behind us and search for the little feeding bottle for milk when we open it. Eswar and Santhosh started calling them as TIKO the name of the squirrel character in the cartoon “Dora the Explorer”. I know the squirrels will not stay with us like pet animals, when they grow and start jumping, I am sure that one day they will leave our house and go to their world. Till that day we enjoy the presence of little squirrels!
